Understanding Prostate
Fluid
The prostate is an important part of the male reproductive
system and also has an effect on the urinary system due to its
location adjacent to the urinary bladder. Because of this,
understanding the basics of prostate health will ensure that
you keep happy and healthy, without many of the discomforts
that can come from prostate problems. Understanding the
function of the prostate as well as some of the most common
ailments of it will allow you to take better care of your
prostate's health. The main function of the prostate gland is
to secret prostate fluid, which composes a large portion of
semen, including giving it the milky white color which is
characteristic of it. The prostate also has smooth muscle
tissue surrounding it which helps the body to expel the
prostate fluid during intercourse.
The buildup of prostate fluid during prolonged sexual
stimulation without ejaculation can result in a painful
condition, which is temporary but can be resolved with
ejaculation or, just as common wisdom has seemed to dictate, a
cold shower. Too much alcohol in the system and some sexual
activities can lead to a similar condition, where the buildup
of prostate fluid is so great that it causes the prostate to
swell, causing problems such as frequent urination due to
pressure on the bladder.
Prostate Massage
In some cases, prostate massage is required as a treatment for
some ailments of the prostate, particularly in chronic
prostatitis, the inflammation of the prostate gland. Similar to
a digital rectal examination, it requires the sufferer to have
a finger inserted into the rectum, and the prostate, which is
located next to the rectum, is then massaged by light
stimulation, no more than the amount of pressure used to rub
your eye, for example. This massage results in a discharge of
prostate fluid, with or without an accompanying orgasm.
While this same procedure is used in some sexual practices as
well as for the medical removal of prostate fluid, it's also
important to know that if too much pressure is used,
particularly in those suffering from prostatitis, negative
results may be achieved, such as blood poisoning. Recently
studies have shown that the use of prostate massage to remove
excess prostate fluid does not improve treatment over
antibiotics alone, as it was once thought. Understanding how
prostate massage works and the results of a buildup of prostate
fluid can help you to know how to handle the occasional
soreness in that area. With a little care and knowledge of your
prostate, you can keep yourself healthy and
pain-free.
