Prostate Surgery Incontinence
What is incontinence? In simple words, incontinence is lack of
control of the urinary bladder whereby one cannot stop urine
from leaking out of their body. Though this is an extremely
embarrassing condition, you will be surprised to know that it
is a very common occurrence. What is even more surprising that
in spite of all the problems that this conditions warrants, a
very small percentage come forward to ask for help.
There are many drawbacks to this condition, because it almost
makes you an outcast. You cannot travel freely, you cannot stay
over at any friend’s house without proper planning and
preparation, you cannot sleep in your bed peacefully fearing
spillage during the night, and so on.
Good News – Most of the Incontinence Conditions Are
Curable
There are many types of incontinence, depending on the diseases
you had been suffering or are suffering, your age, your weight,
your hereditary medical reports, and so on. There are four
major types of incontinence:
1. Urge incontinence – this type you will feel
like running to the bathroom every time a drop of water passes
your lips. It does not matter whether you have a glass of
water, you feel like you need to go all the time.
2. Stress incontinence – this type of incontinence
is when the urinary sphincter becomes loose and hence, every
time you laugh, sneeze and/or cough a little urine will dribble
out. With this type, you will leak at the slightest exertion
and you will also have possibilities to leak when you get up
after sleep, or rise from a chair.
3. Mixed or a combination of Urge and Stress
incontinence – this happens when symptoms from one type of
incontinence has one or more symptoms from that of the other
type.
4. Incontinence caused by surgery and other medical
interventions – there are a number of surgical procedures
that would end up in prostate surgery incontinence.
Fortunately, the prostate surgery incontinence can be fully
reversed with time. Age is definitely a factor here; hence, one
should be able to regain total control of their body and hence,
their dignity as well (with the help of the right
treatment).
It does not matter what type of incontinence you are suffering
in the end – what matters is that you have this annoying
condition and you feel so embarrassed while moving out. The
persons who suffer from prostate surgery incontinence are at
least assured that it will be okay with time, as they heal. The
others unless they seek help and undergo treatment, might find
that the condition deteriorates with time.
Unlike prostate surgery incontinence, which might be taken care
of with the help of a caterer, the common man suffering from
this horrible condition would need to wear highly absorbent
adult napkins which will restore a little of his freedom to
move around, as well as restore his own dignity. Fortunately,
the prostate surgery incontinence might be a thing of the past
with the robotic micro-surgeries existing today, whereby it is
possible to remove the prostate glands without disturbing the
surrounding muscle tissue too much.
